The “Chicken Ordinance” is soon to be back on the City Councils’ plate. Rather than a “silly” thing that is a waste of the council’s time, allowing chicken-keeping would better situate our community for tomorrow’s markets and the economic constraints imposed by the increasing costs of resources. Food security, food safety, reducing fossil fuel and synthetic chemical use – these are a few of my favorite things about backyard chickens.
