5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. (1½ to 2 hours, depending upon how many questions are asked at the end of the tour.) About 20 places available. They share a short video, and then you tour the video surveillance room, lab, primary settling tanks, and the aeration tanks. You then go into the “bowels” of the plant through tunnels to the UV light chamber room.
From their website: “We suggest wearing comfortable clothes and very comfortable shoes (no open-toed shoes, sandals, or flip-flops) as there will be a lot of walking and stair climbing. We do not cancel our tours due to weather unless it poses a danger to our visitors, so dress appropriately for the weather. With advance notice, we can make arrangements for individuals with physical handicaps to participate in our tours, but some portions of our normal tours are inaccessible.” RSVP here is required.
5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.; $5. Join us on a tour of one of the “greenest” buildings in the country. We will have two guides, so up to 40 people can be accomodated. Certified in 2010 by the US Green Building Council at the platinum level, the building earned 63 out of a possible 69 points on the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) New Construction-v2.2 scale. Learn about geothermal heating and cooling, renewable resources, daylighting, photovoltaic cells, rain gardens, pervious concrete, green roofs, solar tubes and much more! RSVP here is required.
