When: Tue, October 12, 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Monona Public Library, 1000 Nichols Road, Monona, WI
Topic
Toward Self-Sufficiency

The Jindrich Family of Monona is becoming more self-reliant by using fewer resources. Learn about their passive solar methods and their new geothermal system. Hear how they came up with an elegant solution to the age old issue of too-much-rain-in-the-spring-but-not-enough-in-the-fall. Follow the design process of their waterworks, a series of pocket ponds, rain gardens, swales and berms that retain water for plants, people, and other animals to use.

A free series of films, presentations, and conversations on sustainability, Green Tuesdays start at 6:30 and run until 8:00, with engaging and fun conversations often pushing the conclusion a bit past that hour. Sessions are on the second and fifth Tuesdays of the month, from September through May. They are open to the public: all are welcome. Whole Foods serves treats, so attendees are encouraged to come early for delightful food and drink.

Green Tuesdays, a project of The Natural Step Monona and the Monona Public Library, now reaches four additional communities: Mt. Horeb, Middleton, Cross Plains, and Oregon. See the calendar for all Green Tuesday and Thursday dates.
