Like the StepItUp07 march that The Natural Step Monona supported with great signs and lots of marching bodies, this effort deserves our support, too. We had a color-coordinated, kid-filled presence at that march and we will do it again!

There is an open house sign-making party on Friday the 26th, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00. Drop by after work, make it an evening with the kids (they always make the best signs!), or stop by after diner. Pizza can be ordered. Cookies will be provided. BYOB. Let’s make a great night of it! Join us and tens of thousands of Americans of all backgrounds for an unprecedented National Day of Action calling for Green Jobs Now: Build the New Economy.On Saturday, September 27th, the We Campaign, 1Sky, and Green for All will hold events across the country to send the message that it is time to Repower America with 100% clean electricity within 10 years and lift people out of poverty.

Here’s the description of the local event:

Let’s rally for Green Jobs in Madison!

The event will begin at 12:30 on Library Mall on the UW campus and will be structured like a traditional labor rally with 4-5 speakers from the faith community, the business community, community development orgs., labor unions, and the social justice community. There will be tables on either side where people can sign up for job training programs from organizations like the Midwest Renewable Energy Association. Then we will march as a group down State Street, wearing green hard hats, waving banners and signs that say “We’re ready for the green economy” and “we’re ready for green jobs” to the capitol building where people will take photo petitions showing their support for the green economy and calling on our federal and state leaders to support them.
