Join local experts in the sustainable food movement for a special Green Wednesday - a group discussion of the works of Michael Pollan. Pollan has been a journalistic leader in writing about humankind’s relationships with our food systems, nutrition science, and plants.
This special “Green Wednesday” on September 30 is the culmination of the Community Read on Pollan’s books: The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food, Botany of Desire, A Place of my Own, and Second Nature. A Community Read usually asks communities to come together to read and discuss one book, but the Monona Public Library has left it up to participants to choose any of Pollan’s books. Green Wednesday will be a discussion, co-hosted by The Natural Step Monona and the Monona Public Library, with a panel of local food and sustainable food experts: CSA farmer, Steve Pincus, of Tipi Produce; Steven Buchholz of Crema Cafe; Kate Heiber-Cobb, Permaculturist of Sustainability on Stilts and the Madison Area Permaculture Guild; and Denise Thorton, author of the Digging in the Driftless blog.
The Green Wednesday is at the Monona Public Library. It will start at 6:30 and run until 8:00, perhaps a bit longer.
